The story behind a steam turbine overhaul at Thetford Power Station in the UK
During the summer of 2024, Sulzer Services successfully completed a steam turbine overhaul project at Melton Renewable Energy's Thetford Power Station in Norfolk, known for its innovative use of poultry litter as fuel. The station has been supplying green energy to 93,000 homes and businesses in the United Kingdom for more than two decades. At the heart of this operation is the steam turbine, serviced and repaired by Sulzer's expert field service team.
As a result of our team's skills and precision, maintenance of this critical infrastructure was completed efficiently and swiftly within the planned shutdown period, allowing the plant to return back online, on schedule.
This documentary, produced in collaboration with ITN Business, reveals how our field services team worked tirelessly and how our collaboration helped our esteemed customer overcome their everyday operations challenges.
We often take for granted that engines work, power and electricity are available when we flip a switch. In Sulzer, we salute the unsung heroes behind the scenes who power progress forward.
