Mellacarbon™, Mellapak™ & MellapakPlus™ - Packings for corrosive systems
Solutions for demanding corrosive applications
In cases where corrosion is a main issue and metal packings are not an option, we can offer you structured packings made of carbon and of different thermoplastic materials.
- HCI separation for production and for HCI recovery (typically in the production of polycarbonate)
- MCA / DCA distillation
- Production of phosphoric acid
- Concentration of hydrofluoric acid
- Separation of chlorophenols
- SO2 absorbers
- Flue gas cleaning columns
- Sea water deaerators
Mellacarbon™
Mellacarbon™
Mellacarbon™ combines all the advantages of a structured gauze packing with the corrosion resistance of carbon.
Key characteristics
- Best choice for corrosive applications
- Combines all the advantages of a structured gauze packing with the corrosion resistance of carbon
- Corrosion proof against caustic solutions, non oxidizing inorganic acids including hydrofluoric acid and carboxylic acids
- Excellent wettability, also in aqueous systems
- High thermal stability (> 400°C)
Mellapak™ and MellapakPlus™
Mellapak™ and MellapakPlus™
Some Mellapak™ and MellapakPlus™ types are also available in different kinds of thermoplastics. Packings made of polypropylene (PP), post chlorinated polyvinylchloride (PVC-C), polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF), Teflon® PFA and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) can be supplied.
Key characteristics
- Large number of transfer units per meter, low HTU, depending on the system
- Small pressure drop per meter packed height
- Most economical load range up to F factor 4 √Pa
- Maximum operating temperatures: approximately 110°C for polypropylene, approximately 150°C for PVDF
